2015 Youth Leadership Award Winner: Darius Bowens

Darius Bowens received the National Day of Prayer- Frederick’s Youth Leadership Award at its 2nd Annual Youth Prayer Rally recently. He was nominated for this honor by Ballenger Creek Campus Life [M].

At just 15, Darius Bowens, a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, is already dedicating himself to Christian service. As a junior at Tuscarora High School, Darius will complete over 150 cumulative hours as a Campus Life high school teacher.

Campus Life Middle School ministry combines healthy relationships with creative programs to help young people make good choices, establish a solid foundation for life, and positively impact their schools.

“Darius has taken all the youth opportunities that Campus Life [M] has offered him and ran with them,” said Cindy Williams, Frederick County Middle Schools Campus Life Director. “He has dedicated himself to assisting in small group leadership. His incredible maturity and developing leadership skills are amazing. Darius has joined new ranks with the Campus Life [M] counselors, leads by example in worship, and through his example of a humble heart and dedication to serve, Darius is an excellent role model in his own school district.”

In order to receive the National Day of Prayer – Frederick’s Youth Leadership Award, a student must be between the ages of 12 and 18, continuously demonstrate and inspire others, must have a strong faith, and be nominated by their local church, youth ministry and/or Christian youth organization.
